NEWS For Immediate Release July 29, 2006 SENSATION CONTINUES TO LEADS THE After three days of yacht racing off Oahu completing five of seven races, Gary Fanger's 1D35 Sensation continues to lead the ORR and PHRF fleets. Doug Taylor's X35 Zamboni is in second in the ORR fleet and Gil Budar's Farr 43 Gerontius is in second in the PHRF fleet. Sailed in 15 - 28 knots of wind and a 1 - 3 foot seas the crews enjoyed scenic yacht racing off Waikiki in 84 degree trade winds and sunny skys. Overall Results: Five of seven races completed. ORR Division 1: Sensation 1st, Kaimiloa 2nd, Boomerang and Kaimiloa tied for 2nd, Flash Gordon Turbo 4th, Two Guys on the Edge 5th. ORR Division 2: Zamboni 1st, Fins 2nd, Gerontius 3rd. PHRF Division 1: Sensation 1st, Kaimiloa 2nd, Flash Gordon 3rd, Two Guys on the Edge 4th, Boomerang 5th. PHRF Division 2: Gerontius 1st, Tribute 2nd, Fins 3rd, Zamboni 4th. Racing continues Sunday at 11:00 a.m. off Waikiki with the last two windward leeward races. The awards presentation is at the Waikiki yacht Club at 6:00 pm Sunday. This the 3rd year the Waikiki Offshores Series was run by the Waikiki Yacht Club and is open to all ocean-racing boats. The 2007 dates will be announced next week. The Hawaii Tourism Authority, Samson Ropes, Harken, Sam Adams Beer, Full Power, Bacardi Rum and the Waikiki Yacht Club sponsor the Waikiki Offshore Series.
