NEWS For Immediate Release SENSATION LEADS WAIKIKI OFFSHORE SERIES After two days of yacht racing Gary Fanger's 1D35 Sensation leads the ORR and PHRF fleets. Doug Taylor's X35 Zamboni is in second in the ORR fleet and Gil Budar's Farr 43 Gerontius is in second in the PHRF fleet. Sailed in 25 - 35 knots of wind and a 4 - 8 foot seas the crews fought their way upwind and then surfed at speeds up to 20kts down the swells flirting with wild crashes and blown up sails and gear. Race two today was abandoned when the race committee deemed the conditions too extreme. Today's Results: ORR Division 1: Sensation 1st, Kaimiloa 2nd, Boomerang 3rd, Two Guys on the Edge 4th, Flash Gordon Turbo 5th. ORR Division 2: Zamboni 1st, Fins 2nd, Gerontius 3rd. PHRF Division 1: Sensation 1st, Kaimiloa 2nd, Boomerang 3rd, Two Guys on the Edge 4th, Flash Gordon 5th. PHRF Division 2: Gerontius 1st, Fins 2nd, Zamboni 3rd, Tribute 4th. The Waikiki Offshores Series takes place from July 25 -30 at the Waikiki Yacht Club and is open to all ocean-racing boats. The Hawaii Tourism Authority, Samson Ropes, Harken, Sam Adams Beer, Full Power, Bacardi Rum and the Waikiki Yacht Club sponsor the Waikiki Offshore Series.
