NEWS For Immediate Release SENSATION LEADS OVERALL IN DAY After the first two races of seven in the 2006 Waikiki Offshores Series sailed today, Gary Fanger's 1D35 Sensation leads the fleet with of 3 points. Doug Taylor’s new X35 Zamboni is tied with John Spadaro’s Sydney 41 Boomerang for second with 6 points each. Todd Wyrick's Sydney 36 Fins 2.5 poins behind in fourth. Sailed in 16 - 22 knots of wind and a 1 - 4 foot swell off Diamond Head the crews enjoyed perfect 82 degrees Hawaiian trade wind surfing. "This is truly the best sailing in the World," said a crew from Sensation In Division 1, Sensation scored two firsts to take the lead. Boomerang scored a 2, 3 and is one point ahead of Dave Knottage's J44 Kaimiloa who scored a 4, 2. In Division 2, Zamboni is tied with Todd Wyrick's Sydney 36 Fins for first with 3 points each. Gil Budar's Farr 43 Gerontius is in third. Racing continues tomorrow with two windward leeward races off Diamond Head and Saturday with the 40 mile distance race. The Waikiki Offshores Series will take place from July 25 -30 at the Waikiki Yacht Club and is open to all ocean-racing boats.
